Deep North biome and Valheim’s platform expansion
The Deep North has been confirmed as the final biome update for Valheim. Iron Gate has been hinting at new content for some time, with a developer update last week mentioning that the team was “entering the final stages of development.”
The announcement trailer depicts a snowy landscape with icebergs, a night sky lit by the polar lights, and foggy terrain. Iron Gate has not provided much detail about the enemies, resources, or progression aspects included in Deep North beyond what is shown in the visuals.
Valheim is available on PC, Mac, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S during Early Access. With the release of version 1.0, it now also supports PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, marking the game’s first appearance on consoles outside the Xbox family.
Valheim was released in February 2021 and sold 5 million copies within its first month. Since then, the game has continued to evolve through updates during its Early Access phase, introducing new biomes such as the Mistlands, Ashlands, and most recently, the Deep North.
Each of these areas brings new enemies, materials, and crafting options, with the game’s full progression loop expected to be completed with the 1.0 release.
Valhem 1.0 is scheduled to launch on September 9 and will be available on PC, Mac, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
