Google Wallet Adds Frequent Flyer Sign-Ups and Auto Linked Passes for Travel | Free Download

Google has announced new features for Google Wallet Targeted at commuters, it was revealed during a developer session at Google I/O 2026. These updates are designed to make the airport experience easier and were explained by Gokmen Goksel, Google Wallet’s technical lead.

The new features expand on the live update to flight tracking that Google introduced to Wallet last month, which now displays flight status information directly on the lockscreen or always-on display.

Frequent Flyer Program straight from Google Wallet

Google Wallet now allows users to sign up for airline frequent flyer programs directly from the boarding pass. The option appears within the boarding pass interface, so there’s no need to find and install an airline’s app or visit a separate website.

Google describes this change as a way to make enrollment easier when passengers are most interested, at the time of boarding rather than until much later in the flight.

Auto Linked Pass extended to boarding passes, baggage tags and travel offers

Auto Linked Passes are being updated to automatically add the corresponding travel pass to the user’s Google Wallet. Brazil’s Azul Airlines is already using the feature to send boarding passes to customer wallets after check-in is completed via mobile, web or at the airport.

Extended Auto Linked Passes also support sending baggage tags directly to wallets and offering offers linked to boarding passes or loyalty cards.

Google has not announced which additional airlines will be integrating Auto Linked Pass beyond Azul or when broader airline support will be rolled out globally.

Availability and airline support

New features for Google Wallet were announced at Google I/O 2026. Google has not provided specific availability dates for the frequent flyer sign-up feature or the expanded Auto Linked Pass capabilities beyond the existing Azul Airlines integration.

These features will become available as airlines adopt the updated Google Wallet API that supports these functions.
