In response to the indifferent one.
I first (probably) experienced Windows 95/98 in an internet café, my first PC at home had Windows XP. Those versions looked both professional and fun to watch. I remember spending time scouring the menus and options to see what was there. Then Vista came out and while there was a big drama around it in the beginning, it seemed revolutionary, I mostly slept through it and only moved on to Windows 7, but 7 was probably the peak of the Windows experience. It improved every aspect of Windows – usability, appearance, overall experience.
I was so excited for the release of Windows 7 that I installed it as early as 2009. I was so excited that I forgot to try Linux before and when I heard the news about Windows 8 in early 2012, I was initially excited, but when I saw the first pictures of it I became somewhat confused and when I tested the Windows 8 beta for the first time, I was really disappointed, disappointed and disappointed. I hated it so much that I felt like something important was breaking. I stuck with Windows 7 until 2015, when I briefly tried Windows 10, but despite the improvements in Windows 8, it still didn’t run as well as Windows 7 on my old PC, so I went back to Windows 7. In 2019 when I bought a new PC it came with Windows 10, I stuck with that for a while, but in 2021 when Windows 11 was released I was curious because at least they made it look nice with rounded corners and some transparency, but I soon discovered that the looks were the only good thing about it and was actually worse than Windows 10 in every other aspect, then I went back to Windows 10 (because My CPU was too new for Windows 7 so this wasn’t possible) and I lived with it until 2024 constantly reading news about how Windows 11 was breaking and I was getting very frustrated with Windows itself.
In 2024 I finally decided to give Linux another chance and wiped my entire storage to install Linux on it and since then I have been using only Linux and have no interest in future versions of Windows, nor do I intend to ever come back to it.
Windows is actually in self-destruct mode and no one can do as much damage to it as Microsoft is doing and they are really trying to become better at ruining Windows. I think by the time they realize their mistake, MacOS and Linux will have gained a lot of market share.
